Most people are aware of ACC
and how that works (or doesn’t
work) when they get injured.
About a third of medical issues
that prevent people from working
are accident related, with the
remainder due to illness.
policy goes well beyond the cover
that ACC provides:
- includes serious illness
- cover if ACC refuses to pay for some reason
- top up ACC payments from 80% to 100% of pre-accident income
Initially a full application form is required which may also include access to medical records. This means that what is and isn’t covered will be set out from the start. Each year it requires a simple medical declaration to allow the underwriter to confirm the renewal terms.
It’s important to understand the policy properly so the benefit amount is set at the right level, as well as what is and isn’t covered. This policy is only sold through a broker so the right advice is provided at every step.
